A coordinator that repeats what each agent said leaves me all the work of joining the deliveries. I can collect messages myself, with coffee and an alarming number of tabs. When I ask for coordination, I want something following the relationships between tasks and the objective that needs to be delivered.
That was my request on June 17, 2026: an agent following the others' work and maintaining the common objective. Fable 5's return, announced on June 30 for July 1, provides context for that expectation. Restored availability can make resuming an execution possible. Somebody still needs to know where work stopped and how it fits the whole job.
A useful coordinator should recognize dependencies before they become incompatible deliveries. In a hypothetical example, one agent investigates a decision while another prepares an alternative. Their responses become comparable when they concern the same problem and make their assumptions visible. Counting how many agents said they finished does not resolve that part of the work.
I also expect care with what comes back to me. A question about a task deserves an answer about that task, with a way to verify the conclusion. Receiving the complete history of every execution forces me to separate the material again. A summary helps when evidence remains accessible and the decisions still outstanding are clear.
My main expectation is fewer interventions from me. Settling an obvious dependency without calling me has value. Adding another round of questions before any work advances makes the workflow worse. I want to observe that difference, including the time I spend correcting mistaken guidance. Coordinators can make mistakes, and undoing them belongs in the execution cost.
The objective therefore needs to remain available for checking. If the work changes, I want an explicit change I can follow. A sequence of delegations can move delivery away from the original request without any individual response appearing absurd. Coordination has to reconnect the whole result to what was requested before announcing completion.
I will judge this role by what I find when I return: understandable current state, deliveries connected to the request, and a clearly identified decision from me when one is needed. A model's return restores capacity; the coordinator needs to turn that capacity into continuity. If I still have to open every conversation and discover how the pieces fit together, it has left the main coordination task for me to perform.
